I strongly believe that if I think I look good when I’m working out, I will feel better about myself. And if I feel better about myself then it will be less of a struggle getting out of bed at 5:39am and braving the cold. I will also feel much more comfortable lunging in front of other people. For me, looking good is about wearing colour and bold prints, so I’m sharing my top colourful sportswear picks for those who are bored of plain old black.
There is no dress you will ever wear that gives you quite the same goosebumps as your wedding dress. My wedding dress was actually the first one I ever tried on (bar my Mum and Nana’s when I was a kid!). I knew it was the one. I wrote a whole post about finding my dress, but obviously I couldn’t really reveal any details because I posted it before our wedding. Now, though, I just can’t resist sharing with you how absolutely beautiful it is and how head over heels in love I am with it.

Autumn is well and truly here. The colder weather has come in, the leaves are falling from the trees and it’s dark when I wake up in the morning. It’s officially time to crack out the jumpers and coats! I have a bit of a thing for knitwear, sweatshirts, coats and ankle boots. I could buy endless amounts, all year round! When we were on honeymoon, we had the most amazing close encounter with an elephant. Our camp was in the middle of the bush and there was nothing stopping wild animals just wandering in. And one day, a big bull elephant did just that. Not only that, but he lumbered right past our lodge and ate the bushes right in front of our balcony. It was one of those once in a lifetime experiences that makes me smile just thinking about it! What’s this got to do with bracelets, you might ask? Cape Town is a truly beautiful city. With so much to do there, you are spoilt for choice! It is the perfect place to get adventurous in, whether that means taking a trip up Table Mountain, spotting penguins at Boulders Beach or scrambling along cliff sides at Cape Point. We visited the city on our honeymoon last month, when Cape Town was just coming out of winter and heading into the early days of spring. Coming from the 37° heat of the greater Kruger park, the cooler climes and occasional rain came as a bit of a shock to the system. I had no idea what to wear! So when Thomson asked me to create a fashion mood board for Cape Town, I jumped at the chance.
So this is it guys. Drum roll please. My first ever outfit post! When JD Williams asked me if I wanted to try out one of their summer dresses, I decided to push myself to the very edge of my comfort zone to try something new for the blog. I don’t feel especially comfortable in front of the camera but I think the best way to get over that is to face it head on. It is July! Great British Summer Time. And actually, the weather hasn’t been all that bad! I wore a dress with my legs out for the first time in a long time yesterday. It felt weird, but it felt good. However, now I’ve relegated my Doc Martens to under the bed, waiting to come back out in autumn, I’ve been struggling to match my summer wardrobe up with some shoes. I find myself reverting to my trusty Converse every time. So I put together a little wishlist post with all the beautiful looking summer shoes I’m dying to get my hands on this year.
I recently wrote a post about my thoughts on some bridal traditions, which included a bit about my thoughts on bridesmaid dresses. If you haven’t read it, go catch up, but essentially I am moaning about the distinct lack of colour and structure when you type in the B word. I decided that I wanted something a bit different for my bridesmaids! Bright, summer florals were on the shopping list all the way. The spring stock is shaping up to be chock full of blooms so finding a floral bridesmaid dress wasn’t too tough.
Thanks to my recent weight loss, my boobs have got loooooads smaller. How come all the weight comes off the fun parts first?! As a result, all of my bras are now feeling super uncomfortable and gaping over my cup. Not an attractive look, by any means. I was so skint throughout February that I couldn’t afford to buy myself any new underwear so when pay day rolled around (and coincided with a much-needed day off work to myself) then I took myself off to Debenhams at the Metrocentre to get my bra fitted.
I must admit, TK Maxx is a store that I don’t often frequent – I like rummaging as much as the next person – but I’ve got to be in the right frame of mind, plus you never know what you’re going to end up with. Despite all this, I thought I’d try my chances at my local store to get a new jewellery box (a surprisingly difficult purchase!).
