Last year, I started a totally new beauty treatment – going a bit more invasive than I ever had before. I wrote all about why I decided to have laser thread vein treatment here and how I chose to go to Aspen Beauty in Stannington for it. Now I’ve had my first appointment, I thought I’d report back on what actually happened.
Trying A New Skincare Routine With Liz Earle
It’s been over a year since I wrote about my daily skincare routine, and actually quite a lot has changed since then. I had this idea in my head that I was pretty loyal to skincare products, but my current stash tells quite a different story! I switch between three different cleansers, depending on how my skin feels when I wake up, and I recently bought a new serum and night cream to try. Clearly, I like to try new things… so imagine my joy when I got to try a whole new skincare routine from Liz Earle.
Tarte Blush Bliss Blusher Palette
As soon as I saw the Tarte Blush Bliss palette, I fell in love. The packaging, the shades, and the fact I’d heard such good things about Tarte blushers meant I was sold. That said, it took it going into the January sales to make me actually click buy (I got it for a mega £13).
Kat Von D Basket Case Eyeliner and Studded Kiss Lipstick
Kat Von D is one of my FAVOURITE brands. The first product I got was the contour palette, which is still going strong, and I also have one of her liquid lipsticks, which I love. I had a shopping voucher so decided to treat myself to a few bits from her stand in Debenhams. I say a few, I mean two, but hey that shit is expensive.
Makeup and Skincare Empties – February 2018
It’s a sure sign that I love a product if I actually use ALL of it. I very rarely bother finishing something if I can’t stand it – I give it away, bin it or send it to charity. Recently though, I’ve been trying to avoid buying new products to save money and instead “shop my own stash”, so I’ve got through a few more products than I usually would. I thought I’d share my most recent empties – some I love, some are a bit meh, but all are worth talking about!
Which Urban Decay Naked Palette Should You Buy?
Ahhhh, Urban Decay, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love your punky attitude, I love your celebrity collaborations (Gwen Stefani ♥) and most of all, I love your eye shadow palettes. The Naked palettes are LEGENDARY in the beauty world and there is a good reason why. Time and again, they bring out on-trend shades, giving you endless looks in one easy to use palette. Now, there are 3 “classic” Naked palettes, 2 “specials” (Smoky and Heat) and a whole sub-range of Naked Basics. That’s a lot of shade to choose from. So where do you start?
A Beauty Retreat in the Heart of Newcastle
I have a bit of a funny relationship with John Lewis – even though it’s in the middle of Eldon Square, I don’t often pop in there for a browse like I frequently do in Fenwick. I think it’s because I think of John Lewis as a bit old fashioned and a bit expensive. I tend to look there for presents for other people, not for myself. So when they invited me down to check out their beauty hall recently, I couldn’t say no. I wanted to find out what I’d been missing out on!
Five Beauty Products I WON’T Be Repurchasing
Buying a skincare or beauty product is quite often a risk – you get something and you hope it will work. I quite often buy things on recommendation from friends, from the beauty press or from other beauty bloggers. In fact I talked about this a little bit recently in my post about whether you can really trust a beauty blogger. But like I said, spending your money on new beauty is a gamble. Today I’m sharing five gambles that didn’t pay off.
Thread Vein Treatment At Aspen Beauty
Everyone has a part of their body they’re hung up about, right? Well I’ve always had this weird thing about my legs – I have a vague recollection of someone once referring to them as tree trunks when I was at school and since then I’ve only been able to see the bad bits of them.
The Scent of Summer
Summer is my favourite time of year – I love the floaty clothes, the bright colours, the feeling of the warm sun on my skin. And the smells – I’m surrounded by the scent of glorious flowers and smokey BBQs for a few months of the year and I just love it. Smells have the power to connect you to a moment that’s gone before, which is why I think perfume is such an important accessory.
