At the start of this month, I was lucky enough to be invited to Ice Lolly’s Blog At The Beach, held in Lambert’s Yard in Leeds city centre. I had never been to a blogging event like this before, but I’ve been feeling in need of a bit of inspiration so RSVPd yes. I know these events can be intimidating so I thought I’d pull together a few tips on how I think you can get the most out of attending, especially if you’re an introvert like me.
Back in my early twenties, I was having a bit of a rough time. I wasn’t enjoying my job, I wasn’t in a fulfilling relationship, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life. And, around the time I was feeling so perplexed, Grazia magazine decided they wanted to run a feature about young women going through a quarter-life crisis and somehow I managed getting involved. Fast forward five years and I’m pretty sure that feature has never seen the light of day! So what happened?
Newcastle is rightly renowned for being a killer night out. And it is killer – your head will not be quite the same after a night on the toon. I’ve been to a few fabulous bars recently with new menus and new things going on, so thought I’d share them here to help you plan your next girls night out!
We seem to have been blessed with some beautiful sunshine at the start of the month, even though it has disappeared now. When it did show its glorious golden face, I turned to a pleated midi skirt and embroidery. In fact the two are huge news this summer, even if they are a little divisive.
Indonesia has been number one on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. I’ve had the guide book since I asked for it for Christmas in 2010 but somehow it’s never worked out until now. Andrew and I considered it for the honeymoon but decided we wanted to go for a safari (largely because it was more expensive and therefore more justifiable for such an important trip!). So we planned it for this year instead.
Thursday, 8 June 2017. The day we vote in the General Election 2017. It could be that this year is the first year you’ve voted and so I thought I’d write a post to explain what to expect when you go to the polling station.
As I sit here writing this post, I’m watching the One Love Manchester concert that has been put together to honour the 22 lives lost at the Ariana Grande concert on 22 May. I looked at Twitter last night to find out that yet more people had been killed after an attack on London Bridge. 90 people were killed and over 460 were injured by a car bomb in Kabul. The world is a desperately sad place at the moment and you just don’t know what’s going to happen next.
I remember when I was recommended to read my first self-help book – I was a teenager crying to my GP about feeling depressed and he suggested The 5 Love Languages to try and help me understand myself and my relationships with others better. At the time I didn’t really get it and I felt really ashamed about being depressed and taking tablets. Fast forward 10+ years and my relationship with self-help books has totally changed.
Instagram is absolutely killing me at the moment. It feels like I put so much effort into it for absolutely nothing at all in return. I don’t think people get to see my posts and my likes are going down and down. Whenever I do get a new follower, I know they just want me to follow them back. Is there anyone genuine anymore? Is anyone on Instagram real anymore?
I hate washing my makeup brushes. It is SUCH a chore! I will do anything to make it easier, so when I saw a review of this KEDSUM Makeup Brush Cleaning Mat on Buzzfeed, I put it on my Amazon wishlist immediately. It arrived just in time because my brushes are well overdue a clean. So is it any good?
