Wedding planning is one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s been so much fun, but there have also been moments where it’s been painful. Like, how much do you want to charge me for FAIRY LIGHTS?! If you’re anything like me and Andrew, you burn through the budget at a rate of knots when you start out and then realise all the things you haven’t included that you still need to pay for (I’m talking about you spray tan, gel nails and waxing). But doing it together is all part of the fun of getting married – if you can make it to the wedding then you must be doing something right. So here’s a round up of all the thoughts that have spun through my head at some point over the last year. Hope they give you a bit of a laugh 🙂
Wedding: Floral Bridesmaid Dress Inspiration Board
I recently wrote a post about my thoughts on some bridal traditions, which included a bit about my thoughts on bridesmaid dresses. If you haven’t read it, go catch up, but essentially I am moaning about the distinct lack of colour and structure when you type in the B word. I decided that I wanted something a bit different for my bridesmaids! Bright, summer florals were on the shopping list all the way. The spring stock is shaping up to be chock full of blooms so finding a floral bridesmaid dress wasn’t too tough.
Sampling Spring Cocktails at Science Bar
On Sunday night I was lucky enough to get invited along to an evening sampling the brand new cocktail menu from Newcastle hotspot Science Bar. I’ve been a fan of this watering hole ever since it was North Bar and the walls were covered in porn. When North shut down I even went along to pick up some of the disco balls that had previously been hanging from the ceiling. Now that is dedication. Science Bar is known for its lovely cocktails – all of which have some kind of scientific theme. So what can we expect from the new cocktails on the menu?
Travel With Me: 7 Things I Loved About Sofia, Bulgaria
I recently found myself in the sunny city of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. I must admit, I hadn’t had much time to prepare myself (thanks wedding stress) and I had no idea where I was staying in relation to all of the top sights and sounds. As usual, it was going to be a flying visit so I wanted to maximise the short amount of free time I had before I was confined to a conference room. Getting to my hotel at about 2:30 pm didn’t leave me much of the afternoon left, so I gave myself a quick half hour to sit on Google maps and headed off into town, sunglasses and bottle of water in tow! So what did I discover in my few hours exploring and what did I find to love in Sofia?
Five Tips To Stay Motivated When Working Out
Sometimes it can be really hard to stay motivated when you’re on an exercise and nutrition regime. There are days when I would do anything (even the washing up) to get out of Metafit but in four months I have only cancelled one gym session because I just couldn’t face it and my week was already crazy busy. So how do I stay motivated? How do I drag myself out of bed and along to the gym on cold April mornings when it’s raining and still dark outside?
Bacne: Back Acne and How To Get Rid Of It
BACNE – the dreaded word. Acne isn’t a nice thing and I’ve been really really lucky enough to never have it on my face. Sure I get spots from time to time, but that’s more about my laziness when it comes to brush washing, monthly hormones and my tendency to pick and squeeze than anything that has more of a serious effect. One of the things I have struggled with, however, is acne on my back. Or bacne as it is also known. I recently had another flare up, so thought I’d share my top tips on how to prevent it and how to get rid of it once it is there.
Health: What I Eat In A Typical Low Carb Day
Quite a few people have been asking me the kind of things I eat in a typical day to maintain my weight loss. So I thought I’d share what I might eat on a typical low carb day. It’s probably worth mentioning that this diet has been recommended to me by my personal trainer based on my personal requirements and therefore might not be right for everyone! It’s always worth consulting a professional before you change your diet or try to lose weight.
RIGHT, disclaimer over. So what do I eat on a typical low carb day?
Best Bits: March 2016
March – what a busy month you’ve been! Some more European travel, discovering some new products, winning a competition and of course lots of chocolate for Easter! I’m starting to feel a lot more optimistic now the clocks have gone forward and it is lighter in the morning (although as I write this I’m in the USA and I woke up at 5am today – it was definitely still dark then!) and the slightly warmer weather is definitely putting a spring in my step (boom). So what did I get up to in March?
Bridal Traditions: No Thanks!
I’ve not talked about it in a while on here, but I’m getting married to my wonderful fiance in August this year. We’ve been engaged since October 2014 so we’ve had plenty of time to plan the big day and we’re ticking off more and more tasks as it approaches. Less than four months and counting now – eeek! Undoubtedly as soon as you tell people you’re planning a wedding, they make certain presumptions about what you might or might not be doing with your day. So today I thought I’d touch on some bridal traditions and whether I’ll be sticking to them or not!
The A – Z of Me! A to M
I must admit I totally stole this idea from someone else. I think it’s a super fun way to share with people a little bit about me. Although if you want to know what I’m really like, you should probably follow me on Twitter, because everyone tells the truth on there, right? Anyway, my About Me page is pretty rubbish IMO so maybe writing out this post will help me. So if you want to know more about little old me, then let the letters A to M guide you through.
