Eye shadow palettes are my weakness, I just love them and I can’t stop buying them! I seem to be able to come up with *any* excuse for getting one. Case in point, I was in beauty mecca Sephora and was really tempted by the Tarte In Bloom palette, but it was $46 and a lot of the darker colours in it didn’t feel very wearable for someone like me, who doesn’t often bother with a smokey eye. However, I just couldn’t walk away without trying some Tarte eyeshadow and my eye soon strayed to the “to go” palettes.
A Long Weekend in San Francisco
Sometimes things just work out REALLY well. And sometimes you find yourself in San Francisco for three days with the sun shining and a sightseeing list as long as your arm. I had never really thought about San Francisco for a holiday before – it is pretty far away from the UK – and if I’m honest, I don’t usually turn to the USA for holiday inspo. I’ve spent a bit of time in New York, but this was my first trip to the West Coast since I was a wee nipper so I thought I’d share what I got up to in the big city in case you ever find yourself over that way.
Are You a Bear or a Lion? Find Out When You Work Best!
Are a night owl? An early bird? Or a permanently exhausted pigeon? Everyone’s seen that meme right? I love it – it is so accurate! I have always felt like I can never get enough sleep, particularly in winter, and I hate early mornings. My family couldn’t quite believe it when I signed up for 6am gym classes, because when I was at school, it wasn’t unusual for me to sleep until after lunchtime on a weekend. So is there ever a time when I am productive?
Getting Made Redundant – The Best Thing That Ever Happened To My Career
I never thought redundancy would be something that could happen to me. I don’t know why, but I just felt kind of invincible. Redundancy is something that only happens when companies collapse, doesn’t it? It doesn’t happen to companies that are doing well. But no. I was made redundant, completely unexpectedly, when I was only nine months into my new job. At the time, it felt like the end of the world. But actually, it was the best thing that could have happened to my career and here is why.
Fashion: Who Said Red Heads Can’t Wear Pink?!
Fashion “rules”, who made them up? Where do we get these ideas from? That you can never wear navy and black, that red and green should never be seen, that pink and red don’t go? I recently re-dyed my hair back to a brighter, less natural coppery, blondey, orangey colour that I absolutely love. But it made me question whether I could still get away with wearing the large amount of pink clothes that are in my wardrobe. Orange hair and pink clothes? I’m breaking some kind of fashion rule here, aren’t I?
Top Three No Hassle Holidays On My Travel Bucket List
I love travel and I’ve got a pretty exciting itinerary for 2017. For me, part of the thrill of travelling is reading guide books, scouring blogs and hitting Google to find the best route, the best places to stay and the unmissable sights when I go somewhere. But sometimes, you just need to give yourself a break, say f**k it and take the hassle out of planning your holiday by handing it over to someone else. Then you can sit back, relax and enjoy the fact that someone else is taking care of your holiday for you. I’ve rounded up a few no hassle holidays that are on my travel bucket list. Think of them as the easy way out of holiday planning!
Nars Palettes: Give In Take and Unfiltered II
I have heard such amazing things about Nars that I can’t really believe I haven’t properly tried anything from them before now. The only Nars product I currently own is a mini Orgasm blush that I loved as soon as I tried it. In case you’ve not seen it, I recently wrote about how obsessed I am with make up palettes and when I saw the new Nars Unfiltered blush palettes, my head was turned. Even more so when they sold out after one day on Space NK. I have also been in the market for an “all in one” palette that will slim down my make up bag when I’m travelling. Step up the Nars x Sarah Moon Give In Take palette.
Four Tips for Making Flying Long Haul More Comfortable
Before I get stuck in, let’s get one thing straight. I don’t really mind flying. I am lucky enough to do it pretty often and it doesn’t really bother me. Sure there are a couple of things I find kind of irritating, but I am not afraid of the plane crashing and I don’t find it that difficult to nod off for a few hours sat upright (I’m like a bear, I can sleep anywhere). What I have learnt over time is that there are little things you can do to make your journey a whole lot more comfortable, particularly if you’re flying long haul. So I thought I’d share four little tips for making flying long haul more comfortable.
From Super Straight Hair to Beachy Waves
Weekends are all about relaxing, seeing friends and eating good food, right? Well this weekend involved just that for me – drinks with my husband and FaceTiming our beautiful friend in Canada on Friday night, then a chill Saturday, followed by a lovely meal out at The Stables, Beamish Hall with our friends. Given The Stables is teeny bit fancier than our local Italian, I decided to turn my super straight hair into more glam waves for the evening using my Irresistible Me curling wand set. You can also see my review of the hair styling tool here.
A True Taste of Thailand at Chaophraya Newcastle
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to get invited to the official launch night of new Newcastle Thai restaurant, Chaophraya, in the newly refurbished Food Quarter of Eldon Square. I am a huge fan of Thai food and was dying to get a look out at the Monument from Chaophraya’s enviable roof terrace, so of course I jumped at the chance. I had only heard good things since the restaurant opened just before Christmas, but did my experience live up to the hype?
