Kat Von D is one of my FAVOURITE brands. The first product I got was the contour palette, which is still going strong, and I also have one of her liquid lipsticks, which I love. I had a shopping voucher so decided to treat myself to a few bits from her stand in Debenhams. I say a few, I mean two, but hey that shit is expensive.
Basket Case Anti-Precision Eyeliner
As soon as I saw this collaboration, I had to have it (£17 from Debenhams). Kat Von D has teamed up with Billie Joe Armstrong from one of my absolutely favourite ever bands, Green Day. I have been a Green Day fan since 1998 and Billie Joe is forever one of my heartthrobs. He is the king of eyeliner and it totally makes sense that that’s the product he would bring out. All hail KVD for making this happen!
The packaging is classic KVD – black with gold foil – with the name written in a Dookie style. There’s only one colour – Insomniac Black, of course. It’s also signed by both Kat and Billie Joe and is vegan. Inside, the eyeliner is like a pen and the nib is fat like a crayon. It’s a deep, dark black that’s super soft and super smudgy. It’s designed to be worn blended out and is the antithesis of the precision liner, which has a fine pen nib.
Wear this one thick, with ridiculous amounts of black mascara and some bold lippie. Embrace your inner punk and get ready to party like it’s 2005.
Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick
I have the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Ophelia, and it’s the perfect nude (it’s loads lighter than how it looks on the website FYI). I love how it applies and how it wears. But as much as I love the liquid versions, I can’t get away from a classic creme bullet lipstick. So when the studded kiss cremes came to Debenhams (£17), I had to try them out.
I tested a whole load of them on the back of my hand (including Mother, Lovecraft and Cathedral) but I kept coming back to the fan favourite shade, Lolita. There are a couple of versions of Lolita available in this format – Lolita, Lolita II and OG Lolita. I swatched them all but OG Lolita was the one. It’s a reddish brown that’s darker than a normal nude, but so very wearable. I am absolutely in love with it and would happily wear it every single day!
Let’s chat formula. The finish is described as semi-matte, which is the perfect title – it has a matte finish, but doesn’t feeling drying. My lips are very dry at the moment and when I wore this lipstick with no lip balm underneath, it did cling a little to my dry patches. I would expect that from any lipstick, though, so not really a criticism.
The colour wears off for me at about the same rate as the liquid lipsticks. I have not ONCE tried a lipstick, liquid or otherwise, that lasts all day. I think it’s a myth! Maybe I eat and drink too much, but I can guarantee whatever’s on my lips in the morning will be gone after lunch. And that’s fine, I don’t mind topping up. What I do mind is when the product wears off in a patchy way that makes me look like a clown without realising. This lipstick lasted through a bowl of cereal, two bottles of water and an orange, but pretty much disappeared after a sandwich and a bag of crisps at lunch. It wore off evenly and I just reapplied after I’d finished scoffing.
I would definitely recommend both the lipstick and the eyeliner. Problem is, I love the eyeliner so much I don’t want to use it, because I know the gold will rub off on the outside!
Have you got any Kat Von D products?

Oh gosh, why didn’t I know about the Basket Case liner sooner?! I’m a massive Green Day fan, so that product is right up my street! I’m definitely going to have to get down to my local Debenhams and have a good nosey at KVD’s products.
