We seem to have been blessed with some beautiful sunshine at the start of the month, even though it has disappeared now. When it did show its glorious golden face, I turned to a pleated midi skirt and embroidery. In fact the two are huge news this summer, even if they are a little divisive.
Warehouse pleated midi skirt
Pleated midi skirts are BIG NEWS this season. I was a little bit wary of them at first because I didn’t think they could possibly look good on me. I thought they looked frumpy and kind of mumsy (and if there’s one thing I’m terrified of, it’s looking mumsy!). That was until I got one from ASDA for £8. And it changed my mind!
The second pleated midi skirt in my arsenal is this gorgeous piece from Warehouse. The colour combination is just beautiful – dark pink with light pink on the inside of the pleats. It is beautifully made – lined, with a concealed zip and really high quality. I just love it. And you can still get it from the website (£56).
Embroidered denim jacket
I picked my embroidered denim jacket up from New Look at the end of last summer, but the embroidery trend shows no signs of going anywhere and there are tonnes of other denim jackets out on the market. There is a great one for sale in Primark that has a flamingo on the back and it’s just £18. I just love the way it goes with the midi skirt, giving it an edge and stopping it from being (uh-oh) mumsy!
I styled my midi skirt and denim jacket with a plain black cami and black Converse. An outfit with this much pow only needed something simple.
