As I sit here writing this post I am feeling pretty hungover. Yesterday I went to York with 16 of my besties to drink lots of cocktails at Evil Eye and pig out at Ask (if you’ve never been there, you need to check it out – it’s in the old Assembly Rooms and is full of gorgeous marble columns) and I *may* have had a little bit too much to drink. And right now I could really do with a trip back to the beautiful, newly refurbished Ramside Spa at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham.
Ramside Spa is part of the luxurious Ramside Hall complex that features a four star hotel and golf course. The same luxury is carried through into the spa. The treatment rooms are warm, plush and dimly lit – exactly what you want when you’re looking to relax.
They even have an incredible sleep retreat, which is basically a darkened room full of comfortable leather recliners covered in cosy faux fur throws. I was dying to get in there and have a nap!
The treatments on offer all use ESPA products, in keeping with the luxe finishes throughout. I’ve never used ESPA before but I love the look of their products, which are natural and specifically designed for use in spas. They had a winter spice candle burning in the reception and it smelt incredible.
They also offer a special Wellness for Cancer series of treatments, which is something I’d never heard of before but I think is just such a great idea. The staff are specially trained to deliver a calming, nurturing and holistic spa day including lunch. I hope I never have to experience it, but for those who are in that position, it sounds like the perfect way to disconnect from reality.
Another great feature of Ramside Spa is the beauty room, a place to get your nails and make up done.
The spa uses Morgan Taylor nail polish (and they have a HUGE array of colours!) and Mii make up, a brand that seems to be popular for use in spas but I’ve never had chance to try for myself.
Pools and Thermals
There are loooooads of pools to choose from here – whether you want to do lengths, pickle in a jacuzzi or watch the steam rise as you sit in the lovely heated outdoor pool.
There is also a steam room, a sauna and an aromatherapy room.
When you’re all pampered out, hang around at Ramside and fill your belly full of their delicious Thai food. The sushi we had was absolutely divine – some of the best I’ve had and I am a big sushi fan! We also stuffed our faces with crispy spring rolls, plump soft prawn dumplings and tasty pad thai. I ate a little bit too much but it was hard not to with such a huge selection of incredible food in front of us.
I had a super relaxing time at Ramside Spa and I’d love to go back for a treatment and maybe a nap in that sleep retreat! I think I’ll have to bring the hubby in tow and try out one of those couples treatment rooms.
Do you like the look of Ramside Spa?
