Last week I went to the launch of Ninja Burger at No. 28 – an award-winning bar above Newcastle’s Grainger Market. I’ve been to No. 28 a few times before, but mostly just for drinks and I had never thought of them as somewhere to grab food. That is all about to change with the launch of Ninja Burger, who want to create “the most delicious burger the city has ever seen”. There is certainly a lot of competition in Newcastle, as new burger restaurants are popping up left, right and centre. So how did Ninja Burger compare?
Best Bits: May 2016
May has been a bit of a quiet one. Or so it seems now I’ve come to look back on it! I went off to Sydney at the start of the month – did you see my photo diary from there? I also checked out Google’s Digital Garage – see my post about it here. But the rest of the month, I’ve had vertigo, which hasn’t been too much fun. Whenever I moved my head to the right, I got very dizzy so I had to have a treatment called the Epley Manoeuvre, which I think has pretty much sorted me out! If you want to know what it is, look on YouTube. Nothing gross or scary, I promise! So what else did I get up to?
Google’s Digital Garage Comes to Newcastle
All snaps courtesy of Jonathan Linsley – thank you for sharing!
If you’re a North East Blogger and you’ve not heard of Google Digital Garage then you are missing out! Google has brought its very own digital training team to Newcastle City Library and over the next few months you can go along to any of the seminars that they are putting on for free. Yes, free! So you have more money to spend on implementing all the ideas that you get from attending one of the sessions! Not only that, but they are running 40 minute one to one sessions that you can book to discuss whatever your heart desires. I mean they’re probably not going to want to dissect your love life, but I’m sure they will advise you on Google Analytics, Adwords, SEO or just a review of your blog. So what are you waiting for?
A Very Special Trip to New York
If you follow me on Snapchat, you may have seen I went on a pretty special trip to New York over the early May Bank Holiday. Mum and I flew over the pond to pick up my wedding dress. I know I’ve kind of been bombarding you with wedding posts recently – but I can’t help it. I’ve been at home for a few weeks and wedding planning has consumed me. I am obsessed with checking The VIP Google Doc, I am madly pinning things to our (secret) shared Pinterest board and all I want to write about is the wedding! So while I’m on a wedding roll, I thought I’d share my wedding dress story. And if I may say so myself, it’s a good ‘un.
Sydney Photo Diary
Sydney is one of my favourite cities in the world. I have been lucky enough to go there a few times and even spent a month there back in the heady days of 2009. The place’s compact centre, beautiful beaches and chilled out vibe get me every time. I managed to wangle another few days there this month and took some snaps as I went. No words really needed, just a photo diary of the day off I had basking in the glorious Sydney sunshine! Let it inspire your wanderlust.
USA Make Up Haul & First Impressions
I recently popped over the pond to pick up my wedding dress from New York (read more about that here!) and HAD to make a stop off at Sephora to pick up some of my most lusted after beauty items. I did have a bit of a splurge and ended up getting some MAC and NYX bits as well. But what’s a holiday without feeling a little bit spendy?! It’s all towards looking like a beautiful bride so it’s kind of justified too. Kind of. What did I get?
Fenwick Beauty Week – Starts Today!
Last week I was lucky enough to get invited to the Fenwick Beauty Week launch in Newcastle. A bunch of lovely NE Bloggers met at Mason + Rye in the food hall to be introduced to the Beauty Buyer Grace Ruthven and get a sneak peak of what some of the beauty houses Fenwick hosts were going to be getting involved with over their upcoming Beauty Week. And boy was there a great selection. A lot of the places were limited, but really there was no bad choice to be made – each counter was offering something fabulous, from demonstrations to make overs, manicures, perfume sampling and more. I managed to bag myself a facial from Sisley and a manicure from Nails Inc. I was one happy bunny!
Ten UK Festival Commandments
When I was recently challenged by Maximise to get involved in their Ultimate Festival Survival Guide, I absolutely jumped at the chance. I have loved going to festivals since I was to be found sipping warm Carling in a field at Leeds Festival as a teenager. Fun fact, I went to my first festival when I was 11 – watching The Verve and Green Day at V98. And it was there that my love of rocking out to music in fields full of strangers began in earnest. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to try a variety of UK festivals in a whole range of weather fronts, so thought I’d share my Ten UK Festival Commandments to help you plan your ultimate festival experience before this year’s summer season kicks in.
Best Bits: April 2016
It’s the end of April and spring is meant to be here. Instead it is alternating between howling winds and snowfalls outside. What is all that about England?! I was hoping to be wearing my boyfriend jeans with a summer top by now but I’m too scared to get my ankles out. I am one of those people who is always cold and this weather is no good for me. On a brighter note, April has been pretty fun and as you read this I have just got back from a trip to NYC to pick up my wedding dress. OH THE GLAMOUR. But what else have I been up to in between?
The A – Z of Me! N – Z
You may have seen a couple of weeks ago that I gave you a little insight into me, myself and I with a quick A – M of me. Thanks for all your comments and social media shares – it was a fun post to write and from the sounds of things, it went down well. May as well finish it off then! So without further ado, here is the second half of the alphabet – N – Z.
