Weekends are all about relaxing, seeing friends and eating good food, right? Well this weekend involved just that for me – drinks with my husband and FaceTiming our beautiful friend in Canada on Friday night, then a chill Saturday, followed by a lovely meal out at The Stables, Beamish Hall with our friends. Given The Stables is teeny bit fancier than our local Italian, I decided to turn my super straight hair into more glam waves for the evening using my Irresistible Me curling wand set. You can also see my review of the hair styling tool here.
A True Taste of Thailand at Chaophraya Newcastle
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to get invited to the official launch night of new Newcastle Thai restaurant, Chaophraya, in the newly refurbished Food Quarter of Eldon Square. I am a huge fan of Thai food and was dying to get a look out at the Monument from Chaophraya’s enviable roof terrace, so of course I jumped at the chance. I had only heard good things since the restaurant opened just before Christmas, but did my experience live up to the hype?
My Makeup Palette Collection
When I was putting my makeup on for our wedding day, my photographer commented how she had never seen one person with so many makeup palettes. In fact, every time she went to take a picture of me, I was holding a different one up to my face. I think I may have a little bit of a problem, I’m just addicted to buying makeup palettes! I’ve picked my favourite ones out to share with you in today’s blog post. This isn’t even my full collection…
Stick To Your Diet AND Eat Out at intu Eldon Square
Being on a diet can be tough. It’s hard to stick to a healthy nutrition plan when your friends are asking you to go out for dinner and drinks. You don’t want to feel like you’re missing out but then you have to be the awkward, fussy person who won’t just settle for a trip to Pizza Express. I am kicking my 2017 off with a return to my three week shred – a strict nutrition plan designed to detoxify after Christmas and break all those bad habits I got into. When I got invited out by intu Eldon Square to try their new restaurants, I thought I’d have to endure a night of serious FOMO. But luckily for me, the brief was to prove that eating out can still be healthy. So is it possible to stick to your diet when eating out?
Sportswear For The Colourful Girl
I strongly believe that if I think I look good when I’m working out, I will feel better about myself. And if I feel better about myself then it will be less of a struggle getting out of bed at 5:39am and braving the cold. I will also feel much more comfortable lunging in front of other people. For me, looking good is about wearing colour and bold prints, so I’m sharing my top colourful sportswear picks for those who are bored of plain old black.
Beauty: My Daily Skincare Routine
So it turns out I have rather an extensive daily skincare routine. I have no idea how it got this in depth, but it really is! I am also discovering just how many beauty and skincare products are tested on animals and after declaring one of my new year’s resolutions is to use more cruelty free products, I realised my daily skincare needs a bit of an overhaul. Find out exactly what I use and what I now need to replace.
New Year’s Resolutions 2017
There seems to have been loads of chat this year about new year’s resolutions / goals / targets / mission / objective / ambitions / intentions – WHATEVER it is you want to call them – and how much they suck. Now I am all for setting myself goals. I think the key is to make them fun, make them manageable and give myself a deadline. And if I don’t achieve them then I look at what they have taught me instead. What have I learnt? Why did I fail? Then I take responsibility for it and move on. I thought I would share with you the top resolutions I have come up with for this year.
What I Got For Christmas 2016
Happy New Year! I have had a lovely ten days off work and blogging. I totally forgot to keep scheduling tweets because I was too busy face planting into five roast dinners, three meals out and a tub of Miniature Heroes. But here I am, back again to kick 2017’s ass. And to start the new year off, I thought I’d share with you what I got for Christmas. Because I am super nosy and love reading these posts so I know you will be too!
2016 – The Year in Blog Stats
At the end of 2015 (which feels approximately five minutes ago btw), I set myself some blogging goals for 2016. Given I had only been blogging a matter of months then, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing (definitely still don’t) so I wasn’t sure what were reasonable goals to set myself. Looking back, it’s interesting that all the goals I set were based on numbers. This year, I’ve realised that it isn’t just about the numbers. While I fully understand that the stats often get you more opportunities, there is more to a great blog than just how many people follow you on Twitter. So I’m here to review my year in comparison to last year’s stats goals and think about what goals I might set myself for 2017.
ASOS Advent Calendar: Day 11 – 20
Last week I introduced you to what I got in days 1 – 10 of my ASOS advent calendar. Well this post is all about (you guessed it!) days 11 – 20. I appreciate that still leaves four days worth of treats before Christmas that I haven’t shown you, but I will. I just can’t bring myself to open the doors until the actual day. It spoils the advent fun!
