Tarte is one of those brands that I’ve admired from a distance, but never really dug into. I have seen it countless times in Sephora and yet somehow it never crept anywhere near the top of my wishlist. That all changed when I saw Roxie from The Beautiful Bluebird‘s post about the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom 2 palette. My heart skipped a beat. I had to have it!
So I stalked the Tarte website for it and found a voucher code for free delivery when you spend over £40 and a 15% discount. Mega! I decided to order the palette and also try one of Tarte’s mascaras, because I’m on the hunt for a cruelty free mascara that I love just as much as my non-CF Maybelline one.
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom 2 Palette
Another beautiful palette for my collection!
Heartbreakingly, I knew something wasn’t right as soon as I got the palette out of the delivery box. I could see fine powder everywhere and just knew that a pan must be broken! When I opened it, I was right – Charmer – a pale white matte shadow was half cracked and had got fine whist dust everywhere. Gutted.
Double heartbreakingly, Tarte don’t offer replacements on international orders BUT they did give me a refund for the palette and I got to keep it. They sorted it out really promptly and the customer service was amazing.
Aside from that, the colours in the palette are just so me. I love warm, bronzey golden tones and I’ve recently got into peachy tones as well.
I’ve recently started using this palette and the colour is true to pan on your eye. The shadows are soft and blend well, but almost too well. I found if I buffed too much, I would need to reapply for the colour to retain its intensity. Also, because of how soft the shadows are, there was a TONNE of fallout when I was putting my brush in. There was a cloud of powder everywhere that fell onto the other pans.
Looking at my eyes right now (it’s 10pm and I’ve been wearing my eye make up without reapplying since 8am), the colour has lasted really well, it hasn’t creased or gone overly patchy. Pretty impressive.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara (Limited Edition)
I went for the limited edition Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara because with that packaging and that lengthening promise, who can resist?
This is a truly beautiful looking mascara, but I am not bought into the quality of this at all. When I opened the mascara, the formula felt really dry and like there wasn’t much on the brush. When I applied it, I didn’t get the separation or curl that I was hoping for.
I know that I am really picky with mascara but this Tarte one just totally turned me off. Apart from the pretty packet, I can’t really find anything good to say about this mascara and that makes me sad. The only time I’ve found that I kind of like it is when I use it as a second or third coat, after already separating and curling my lashes.
So a bit of a mixed bag from my first ever Tarte order! I love the colours of the palette and can’t wait to create some looks with it. I’d love to do some blog posts about make up looks, so let me know if that’s something you’d like to see (even if you don’t, I’ll probably do it anyway!)
Have you tried Tarte?

I’ve looked at some of the sets on there – they’re gorgeous but the foundation is never the right colour for me! Definitely a great tip though 🙂

That palette looks lovely, shame it got damaged in transit. Is this what you had on your eyes last night?
hellojenniferhelen says
It is! It lasts really well because it had lasted all through work and that evening!
