Weekends are all about relaxing, seeing friends and eating good food, right? Well this weekend involved just that for me – drinks with my husband and FaceTiming our beautiful friend in Canada on Friday night, then a chill Saturday, followed by a lovely meal out at The Stables, Beamish Hall with our friends. Given The Stables is teeny bit fancier than our local Italian, I decided to turn my super straight hair into more glam waves for the evening using my Irresistible Me curling wand set. I’ve been loving using the fattest barrels of the wand because they give my hair beautiful, beachy waves. The biggest wands also make it easiest to do my hair quickly, because I can get more around the barrel.
But how to compete with my super straight hair? It’s all about coming up with the right combination of products and using the right tools. And I genuinely believe using the Irresistible Me tool makes it 100 times easier.
The Right Products
Curling hair like mine is a total waste of time if my hair is clean, so I make sure it’s a day or two after I’ve washed it. I follow that up with more than a few sprays of salt spray. I know you’re meant to use this on wet hair, but if I spritz it through my dry hair, it gives that extra bit of grit to make the curls hold.
I’ve been using by nature Textured Waves Sea Salt Spray in Coconut that I picked up from TK Maxx. It smells delicious and it isn’t tested on animals, so a winner all round.
I also stick a bit of Batiste’s XXL Plumping Powder through my roots to give them volume. Again, another brand that tests on animals *sigh* so I will have to find an alternative. Can’t believe how many brands still test on animals!
The Right Tools
I’ve talked about some of the features of the Irresistible Me curling wand tool that I got sent to review in another post, but I’m loving it so much I wanted to show you what kind of curls it actually delivers. For this look, I used the 32mm wand, the biggest one in the set, to create smooth, gentle waves.

You’ve made it looks so easy! Will give it a go-my hair is pretty short though
It’s easy when you’ve got the right tools! Sometimes I think it looks better on short hair because the curls don’t drop out as easily.
