When I was putting my makeup on for our wedding day, my photographer commented how she had never seen one person with so many makeup palettes. In fact, every time she went to take a picture of me, I was holding a different one up to my face. I think I may have a little bit of a problem, I’m just addicted to buying makeup palettes! I’ve picked my favourite ones out to share with you in today’s blog post. This isn’t even my full collection…
Urban Decay Naked 3
Naked 3 is the first high end palette I got and it fast became my favourite. The palette is full of creamy, pinky, nudey brown tones that I never thought I needed until I got my hands on them. Naked 3 became my go-to and I took it everywhere with me. Unfortunately it’s now become a little bit bashed and I’ve even lost one of the pans. Just the other day, in fact, I knocked it over and all the pans fell out. I’m not sure I got them all back in the same spot!
If you’re looking for pink toned shades, then this is the ultimate palette for you.
Urban Decay Naked Smoky
A smoky eye and nude lips is my favourite choice for a night out, so I couldn’t resist when the Naked Smoky came out. I actually picked this palette up in Sephora when I treated myself to some new make-up for my birthday. I love the golden and brown tones but I haven’t quite got the hang of the blacks, greys and dark purples yet.
Any one got any good tutorials?
Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics
This is the newest addition to my palette collection and one I never thought I’d like. I thought I preferred shimmery shades to matte but this palette is slowly changing my mind. I love the colours, I just don’t find them as pigmented as the shimmery shades I have.
I’m still getting to grips with this one and I’m enjoying creating new looks with it every day.
Urban Decay Moondust Palette
Another new one for me, Moondust was a birthday gift. When I first saw it, I was a little bit intimidated – the colours and level of sparkliness are not for every day use. But I soon found that they’re actually surprisingly wearable. I love to add them to my every day look for a bit of extra pizzazz and they are just great for a night out. I will be watching some make-up tutorials on this one though, so if you know any, link me in the comments please!
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eye Shadow Palette
Gwen Stefani is an absolute icon. A babe. A goddess. I bow down to her incredible agelessness. So when she collaborated with Urban Decay, I HAD to have it. And what else would I want from the collection but her palettes? So first things first I got my hands on the eye shadow palette. It’s a mix of shimmers and mattes, with loads of nudes, some deep, rich tones and a couple of more out there shades – just what you would expect from Gwen!
This palette is a staple in my collection but I sometimes forget about it – must remember to keep it close.
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette
One day, I somehow came to the conclusion that I needed more blushers in my collection. Before this palette, I just used a Clinique single pot. I reach for this almost every day and love to use a mix of the shades. There is a light pink, a deep pink, an orange shade and a couple of highlighters. You hardly need to dip your brush in at all, they are so highly pigmented.
This palette is brilliant and I love having it close by every day.
Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Palette
This is the palette of dreams. Everything about it is beautiful – the packaging, the shades, the gold – and of course it has two HUGE highlighters, the famous Champagne Pop and the new Prosecco Pop. These highlighters really live up to the hype and a tiny bit goes a long way.
Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette
I’ve written about this palette before in my huge Sephora haul from last year and it is the ultimate powder contour set. I love the warm and cool toned colours, the pigmentation is intense (so easy to go overboard – watch out!) and it has matching setting powders as well. I must admit, I don’t get as much use of the pale colours as I should. I don’t often use pressed powder but I’m going to try and incorporate it more to give it a fair go.
I just love everything Kat Von D does and I need to get more of her collection in my grubby mitts. I’ve heard it’s coming to Debenhams Newcastle so I am over the moon!
So there is a round up of my top makeup palettes. CAN YOU SENSE A THEME HERE?! There is a teensy, tiny possibility that I might be in love with Urban Decay’s make-up palettes. Maybe it’s time I branched out.
The good news is, all of these brands are cruelty free so they fit into my New Year’s Resolution AND I don’t have to feel guilty about whipping them out on the regular.
What are your favourite makeup palettes? Which one do I HAVE to try next?

I love Moondust but I’m not using it as much as I’d like to. I want to do like a really dramatic sparkly eye with it but I never go out drinking anymore so I’ve got no excuse to haha!
