I have always wanted to be one of those women who makes an effort with their hair. I envy those who have it within themselves to get up half an hour earlier to create the perfect do. Fact is, I can’t be arsed. To be honest, it’s not a rare occurrence for me to go to work without even brushing my hair. It’s probably because I’ve got poker straight, thick, long hair. It’s pretty well behaved, so I don’t really need to do anything to it for it to look nice. And yeah, it looks nice, but I want it to look fucking awesome. And I’m getting to the point where I am willing to try anything. So when Irresistible Me asked me I wanted to try their 8 in 1 Sapphire Styling Wand, I could not say no.
The Irresistible Me Sapphire Styling Wand ($199)
The Irresistible Me wand has a huge 8 choices of curling attachment. You can create pretty much any kind of wave you want to. As a curling wand newbie, I don’t even know what some of the attachments even do!
The attachments are really easy to change – they just click in and out. You’ve got to change it while the wand is cold of course, otherwise you would burn the hell out of your hand. The wand heats up really quickly and gets really, really hot. The top temperature is 450°F, which is 230°C and it feels a lot hotter than any other wands I’ve used before.
Because of the temperature, I was a bit worried my hair would feel super dry and damaged when I use the curler, but it’s not at all. The barrels are ceramic and are infused with this cool thing called tourmaline. Tourmaline leaves your hair smooth and shiny by sealing in the natural oils, colour and moisture of your hair. Pretty nifty, eh? I can really feel it when I curl my hair, it’s not frizzy and the curls are really smooth.
The wand comes in a pouch that contains all the attachments and the handle in one. There is also a stand to rest the curler on while it’s cooling down. As with all curling wands, the cable is long and free to move so it doesn’t get tangled and it also comes with a heat proof glove to protect your fingers.
I can’t wait to get stuck into using the curling wand more often so I can finally become one of those women who has great hair. I’m going to get myself familiar with what each barrel does (some of them look more like sex toys, let’s be honest) and in a few weeks I’m going to show you just what magic it creates on my hair.
