Wedding: THE DRESS

There is no dress you will ever wear that gives you quite the same goosebumps as your wedding dress.  My wedding dress was actually the first one I ever tried on (bar my Mum and Nana’s when I was a kid!).  I knew it was the one.  I wrote a whole post about finding my dress, but obviously I couldn’t really reveal any details because I posted it before our wedding.  Now, though, I just can’t resist sharing with you how absolutely beautiful it is and how head over heels in love I am with it.

The Designer

My wedding dress was designed by Sarah Seven – a New York based wedding designer.  Her designs fall into two halves – a romantic, boho glam side and a cool, minimalist side.  I think you can tell I picked from the boho glam side!

The Bodice

I absolutely fell in love with the detail on the bodice of my dress.  It was designed with an intricate lace pattern, with some swirls that sat higher than the top that made me feel like the ultimate fairy princess.  The lace detail also extended down over the top of the skirt.  I loved the look of this, but I did find that sometimes it flapped upwards and stayed there and that was annoying when I look back at pictures!

The Skirt

The bottom half of my dress was made up of multiple layers of flowing tulle, over an ivory silk under skirt.  I loved the movement that the different layers gave me as I moved and the skirt felt heavy and full without verging into meringue territory.

My gown really was the most amazing thing I’ve worn and I am so happy I found it.  I felt like the most beautiful bride and a lot of that was down to my incredible wedding dress.
