So this is it guys. Drum roll please. My first ever outfit post! When JD Williams asked me if I wanted to try out one of their summer dresses, I decided to push myself to the very edge of my comfort zone to try something new for the blog. I don’t feel especially comfortable in front of the camera but I think the best way to get over that is to face it head on. So I dragged Andrew into the back lane behind our house and shot a bunch of pics in the hope of getting a couple of good ones. Have a scroll down to see how you think I did…
The Dress
The beautiful dress I picked from the JD Williams website is a blue tile print maxi dress. It immediately stood out when I was scrolling through because I just love the print. Blue is one of my favourite colours and I find it really complements my paler skin.
The cut is super flattering – with a long skirt, adjustable straps and a floaty layer over the top camisole to give just the right amount of summer airiness. The fabric is soft and lightweight, but still well made. My one criticism would be that it is slightly too short for a maxi dress BUT I am 5 ft 10 so well above average height.
Daytime Styling
During the day, I don’t think this dress really needs anything else to go with it. I styled it up with some simple, Primark silver sandals. This is one outfit where you let the dress do the talking.
Evening Styling
This maxi dress is a perfect match to my new blue Zara faux leather jacket (which I also want to buy in pink because I think it’s amazing). The jacket is great for summer, with cropped sleeves and a shorter length. It keeps the chill off without feeling too heavy.
I teamed the dress and jacket with some Michael Kors shoes I picked up from TK Maxx (winner!) and this gorgeous quilted Zara bag that was a steal from eBay for £35.
If you like what you see, then there are tonnes more maxi dresses on JD Williams’ website here. There are some gems in there and the prices are very reasonable. The dress I chose retails for £29.00 and comes in sizes 10 – 26.
So, what do you think to my first ever outfit post? Do you like how I’ve styled up the dress?

JD Williams kindly sent me this dress as a gift, but all my thoughts on it are my own.

It looks fab, I love wearing a nice floaty maxi dress and pairing it with a biker jacket.
I am only just over five foot so this will probably be too long on me. I never think about checking out JD Williams but will now!
