IT’S FINALLY SUMMER! Yay to wearing summer dresses, sandals and my jazzy new Zara blue jacket. Oh wait, haha, I forgot. We live in the UK. In the North. Summer so far has consisted of periods of sweaty warmth or freezing rain. Mostly in the same day. What is that all about? Nevertheless, I still managed to have a pretty jam packed June. Wedding prep is ramping up and what’s wedding prep without some last minute stresses? But, onto the fun stuff.
Biscuit Factory Summer Launch
The lovely Alexis from Newcastle Sparkles has a fancy day job as Marketing Manager at The Biscuit Factory and she was kind enough to invite me along to their summer launch. The Biscuit Factory is a cool art gallery in the Ouseburn, just outside Newcastle city centre. The summer launch was fab, I bumped into fellow bloggers Shivani and Julie and browsed the beautiful art on display. All the pieces I lusted after were way out of my price range, but we had our eye on a stacked illustration of the Newcastle city landmarks. Maybe after the wedding!
Copper Hair
After giving my hair a rest for six months – no dye, weekly hair masks, strengthening shampoo – I took the plunge with a new hair dresser in June and dyed my hair copper. My natural hair colour is somewhere between strawberry blonde / auburn and I knew for my wedding I just wanted to look like a better version of natural me.
I toyed with going blonde, but I’ve not been blonde for so long now I thought it might be a bit of a shock to the system. Instead, I opted for red lowlights, blonde highlights and a stunning copper shade all over my hair. I am super impressed by it and can’t wait to get it done again just before the big day! I also wrote a post about how I maintain my colour here if you want to know more.
Afternoon Tea at St Mary’s Inn
I’ve written a separate post all about my lovely afternoon tea at St Mary’s Inn, but I just want to reiterate here how much I enjoyed it. Wedding planning was taking over my life and even though I’d taken a day off work, I was running around like a blue arsed fly trying to get all my chores done. Afternoon tea was just the thing I needed. If you need some R&R, take yourself up to Morpeth and relax in a cosy pub and stuff your face full of sweet treats.
Visiting Our Wedding Venue
It is now only 7 weeks until the big day. We’ve been making monthly trips to the venue to run through all the details. June has been a bit of a stressful one in terms of getting those details just right for us, but we’re getting there. I want to keep the venue a secret until the afterwards, but here are a few sneak peeks!
Travelling Around Europe
June brought a few more European trips – Amsterdam, Bergen and Paris in fact. Lovely, beautiful cities I am lucky to have access to. Needless to say lots of people have been talking about the impact of Brexit and the leave vs. remain debate has created a rift in the country quite unlike anything I’ve seen before. Hopefully the future will be brighter than it feels right now.
So that was my June – hope you enjoyed yours! What did you get up to? P.S. Most of these piccies are from my Instagram – are you following?
