Google’s Digital Garage Comes to Newcastle

If you’re a North East Blogger and you’ve not heard of Google Digital Garage then you are missing out!  Google has brought its very own digital training team to Newcastle City Library and over the next few months  you can go along to any of the seminars that they are putting on for free.  Yes, free!  So you have more money to spend on implementing all the ideas that you get from attending one of the sessions!  Not only that, but they are running 40 minute one to one sessions that you can book to discuss whatever your heart desires.  I mean they’re probably not going to want to dissect your love life, but I’m sure they will advise you on Google Analytics, Adwords, SEO or just a review of your blog.  So what are you waiting for?

Digital Garage

What is it?

Google Digital Garage

Where is it?

Newcastle City Library, 33 New Bridge Street West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AX.

When is it?

Seminars run on Wednesdays and Fridays from now until July.

Where do I find out more?

Visit the Newcastle Digital Garage Website and book yourself onto a seminar or a one to one.  You just need an email address to register and get cracking.  Also follow @toonlibraries on Twitter and browse the #DigitalGarage hashtag to see who else has been.

Why should I go?

I have already attended two sessions: Reach New Customers Online and Tell Your Story Online.  While I don’t think I necessarily needed to go to both, because a lot of similar content was covered, I learnt a lot of useful tips, I was reminded of things I need to keep on top of with my blog admin and I was inspired to do so much more.  I came away with a huge to do list for my blog and ways I can get it working even better for me and for my readers.

The sessions are really informal, very informative and held in the foyer at the City Library, so very convenient.  You also get a link to the slides at the end of the presentation so you can focus on writing down your ideas rather than copying down the content.

Next, I’m definitely going to book onto the Understanding Analytics session as I’m always up for learning more about the technical stuff and broadening my understanding of my readership.  I might even book in for a one to one as I’m desperate to grill someone in the know about the whole no follow / do follow link debate!

I’ve learnt a huge amount already, I feel more inspired to create more content and it was all for free.  I don’t think it’s been hugely shouted about in the region so here I am giving it a big thumbs up and a recommendation to get along and either learn something new or refresh your basic skills.

Have you been to any sessions or booked in for a one to one?  Or are you going along to any now you’ve heard about it?  Let me know!

♥ JH

This is a brilliant idea I’ve always fancied having a professional offer me advice on my blog and show me if I’m committing any Cardinal sins!

Yeah the online version looks great and if you complete all the courses you get an official Google certification so definitely worth it!

[…] did you see my photo diary from there?  I also checked out Google’s Digital Garage – see my post about it here.  But the rest of the month, I’ve had vertigo, which hasn’t been too much fun. […]
