When you’re on a diet, it suddenly seems like no one else is. All you see is pizza everywhere you turn – pizza emojis, pizza on Primark t-shirts, hell, even pizza bedding. But you can’t eat pizza can you? Pizza is just out to mock you. Following a nutrition plan is hard. Temptation lies around every corner. I consider to be a person with fairly low willpower, but turns out I’ve only cheated on my plan like ONCE in the past two months. But how on earth did I do it? Follow my diet tips and you will find it easier. Promises!
Out of Sight, out of Mind
If you can’t physically see things you’re not meant to be eating then you won’t eat them. Simple as that! How many times have you grabbed a couple of choccies or a handful of grapes, just because they are there? If you remove the temptation then you won’t miss what you’re not able to eat. When you see it, you’re reminded how yummy it is so it makes saying no a whole lot harder. Put it in the cupboard!
Drink Like a Fish
I know you’ve all heard this one, but it is so true. Your body often mistakes thirst for hunger – it’s not very clever like that. So make sure you drink at least 2 – 3 litres of water a day to keep those hunger pangs at bay. Bonus tip – drinking sparkling water makes me feel more full. It must be the bubbles. It also gives some much needed variety when you’re sick of slurping on the council pop.
Don’t Think “Oh I’ll just have one…”
You will never just have one! You will be like, ohhhhh I’ll just have one more because that can’t hurt. And the fact that you’ve tasted the chocolate and know how GOOD the chocolate tastes, you will want more! Honestly, it’s just so much easier if you don’t break the seal. Because then the temptation to have more is much less and you start to feel really good about the fact you’re not eating crap and you want to eat it even less! It’s so long since I’ve eaten chocolate now I’ve *almost* forgotten what it tastes like. Therefore I miss it a lot less than I thought I would. Just you wait until Easter though, when I will feast like a Queen (for one day then I’ll forget what it tastes like again…)
Meal Prep Is Your New Best Friend
If you know when and where your next feed is coming from, you are much less likely to spend the day thinking about food. Because you don’t have to worry what you might or might not be having, your brain is clear to think of other things. And you naturally find yourself thinking about other things. Despite being on a diet, you actually think less about food! Genius.
Do you have any tips for sticking to your diet? I’d love to hear them!
