I have only recently discovered that what’s in my handbag posts are a thing, but I actually love them! I tend to cart around quite a lot of stuff in my arm candy – and the bigger the bag, the more stuff there is – but looking at other people’s posts makes me think I’m not quite alone on that one! So what’s in my handbag now?
The Bag Itself
First up – can I give a shout out to this awesome handbag? I had previously been using a cross body Marc by Marc Jacobs black bag that is great, but not ideal for when you’re flying and you need a big bag to chuck in your magazines, book, bagged up liquids, phone chargers, blah blah blah. So I headed out to the shops – knowing that it was the end of January and I’m COMPLETELY SKINT – hoping to find a bargain. And hell did I!!
I had my sights set on a black shopper from Primark but luckily stumbled across this beauty at Warehouse in Fenwick. I originally saw it in black for £36, but that was beyond my budget (I was heading to Primark remember, guys). Then I saw this baby in the sale for a mere £10 – couldn’t believe my eyes – I immediately snapped it up!
What’s Inside My Handbag?
Anyhoo, onwards to what’s inside my bag. As I mentioned before, if I have a bigger bag, I tend to fill it full of stuff. So, ever since I got this new one, I’ve been trying to be better at clearing out my crap. Needless to say, when I come to look in my bag to write this post, there are more receipts, tissues, lip balms and pairs of gloves than you can shack a stick at (whatever that means).
Notebook & Pens
An essential. I know, I know, we can all make notes on our phones, but there is something undeniably useful about always having a bit of paper and a pen to hand. I got mine, bought from Barnes & Noble in the USA, because it’s tiny and covered in lots of inspirational statements. I use it for jotting down blog post ideas, writing to do lists, writing shopping lists, making notes about work and just generally capturing some of the thoughts whizzing through my mind on a daily basis.
Diary
I have a memory like a sieve. This helps. Need I say more? It also makes me feel proper grown up but it’s still super cute. I got it from Typo in Australia because I’m a super fly jetsetter. And they make the BESTEST stationery.
Wallet
Ahh my wallet, my sweet, my baby. I am more obsessed with my wallet than a girl should be. And you know what, it’s not even made by some fancy designer or anything. It is from Ted Baker and I love it because I bought it with my first ever proper pay check, and that was a huge moment for me. It took me two years to get a permanent job out of Uni and this was my reward. Something to carry with me every day. It’s a bit well worn, even though it never has any money in it, but it’s six years old so I think that’s kind of OK.
Beauty
I used to just chuck all my lippies into the bottom of my bag. That was until one of the blighters decided to commit harakiri and disembowel itself all over the insides of my bag. NOPE. So now I keep them all in this super cute bunny themed make up bag from Next that I got from Andrew’s parents at Christmas.
In there is all sorts. Laaaaaaady products (thanks to the pill, it can strike at any time), tissues (for when I need to cry in public), chewing gum, a nail file and an assortment of lip products. I hate being without lip balm, but I have also developed the habit of adding whatever product I’m wearing that day to this bag and never clearing it out. So the bag just gets bigger and bigger until it holds no more. Current faves? Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie (smells like mint choc chip ice cream!), Maybelline Baby Lips (melon) and Boots No. 7 BB Lips (glossy and moisturising).
So that’s it – my handbag in a nutshell (minus all the shit that shouldn’t be in there of course, that’s not half as glam as lipstick).
What’s in yours?

Seeing these posts makes me really wish I carried a handbag. I always end up giving my sister everything to carry so I don’t have to carry my own bag. I got a lovely satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company and I’ve used it maybe once in over a year. This post has inspired me to make more of an effort to carry my own!

I think you need to get into the habit of writing in a diary but it can be hard. Having a pretty one helps 🙂

It’s so useful to have your bits all in one place in your bag – otherwise I just lose them in the depths!
