It’s January 2016 – can’t quite believe it. It seems like all my Best Bits posts of 2015 started with a similar phrase – how quickly did that year go?! But before I jump into 2016 both feet first, I wanted to take a look back on how awesome December was. Who doesn’t love Christmas?! I do (check out my post about what my favourite things are here) and I am happy to say that my decorations are only coming down today – the twelve days of Christmas live on in our house 🙂
But what else did December bring?
Old School Gigs
Andrew and I rocked out like it was 1999 at the O2 Academy watching Shed Seven. They were never one of my favourite bands growing up (I was more of a mosher, haha) but I got into the Shed when they played Kendal Calling back in 2012 and we try to go to see them whenever they play their Christmas tours. Great excuse for a boogie and a booze.
CHRISTMAS
Well of course – it’s December! We put our Christmas tree up and experienced a gorgeous snow day in the North East!
Enchanted Parks
Every year NewcastleGateshead put on an event in Saltwell Park called Enchanted Parks. They take over the whole park, building and installing dramatic light installations that tell a story as you walk through the event. Tickets sold out in double quick time this year as it was their 10th anniversary but we managed to scoop some up.
It was a cold and rainy night – not ideal for tramping through an outdoor event – but it’s always a fun and quirky thing to do. This year’s theme was Alice in Wonderland – and it was pretty trippy!
London
I rounded my work year off with a trip to London and managed to squeeze in a visit to the huge Lush on Oxford Street. It smelt divine and it was so busy just before Christmas. I didn’t buy anything, but I did pick up some bits in the sale which I can’t wait to get my paws on.
Oh and shout out to the guy who is loving Lush in my header photo!
Work Christmas Do
Maybe the less said about this the better…! Needless to say, it was really good fun – we took over the back room at Mr Lynch’s in Jesmond, played some raucous games, shot some pool (which I categorically SUCK at) and drank many a bizarre cocktail. I barely remember getting home. OOPS. I think this picture says it all… 🙂
So that was my December – hope you all had a fab one and are ready to hit the ground running in January! What was your Christmas like?
