Ooooohhh a personal trainer. Now doesn’t that sound fancy!!
Well yes, it may seem a little bit extravagant, but if there is one thing my impending wedding day is helping me realise, it’s that my body needs quite a bit of looking after. As I am speeding towards the grand old age of 30, my metabolism is not quite the same as it was when I was 16 and doing exercise five times a week.
After I left school I chomped my way through enough packets of Doritos and drank enough bottles of wine to put on the weight of a thousand men. Luckily I kept up most of the exercise and only went up to a size 12. University finished, I got a full time job and broke up with a long term boyfriend. Cue dropping down to a lithe size 10. Four years and a happy relationship later and I’m a 12-14. The weight is creeping back on as I kid myself that I can still eat whatever I want and see no waist expansion. HAHA.
This December I got my mitts on a new diary and started to transfer important dates from this year’s diary into my 2016 one. At the start of 2015, I had been tracking my weight weekly and so one of the first things I saw was my weight at the start of January. It’s fair to say I was utterly dismayed to see that over the last twelve months I have managed to lose (and more importantly, keep off) TWO POUNDS. Two measly pounds. What the actual??
It’s true that I have been going to the gym a lot more than usual, but when I fall off the wagon, I do so in a big way and eat whatever I like. It can be hard to fit in exercise and eating healthily when I travel a lot with work, but that’s just an excuse – it might be hard but that doesn’t mean I can’t do it. Plenty of other people do!
So that was it, I decided there and then that I wanted to get down to my goal weight before our wedding. So that’s 10 pounds to go in eight months. And given it’s taken me a whole year to shift two then that’s no mean feat.
2016 is going to be all about looking after myself and I’m starting with a personal trainer. So yes, it might seem like I have more money than sense but actually I am hoping that training with Sarah will give me a much needed kick up the arse before I become a married woman and hit 30 in the same year. I need focus and direction instilled into me and a fitness habit is no bad one to pick up.
So here’s to my dream bod in 2016 – for the wedding, for the future and for good health for the rest of my life.
I will be posting updates on my journey regularly in 2016 – stay tuned to see how I get on and whether a personal trainer might be right for you.

Good luck with this ^_^ It’s such a good idea to get a personal trainer though, and I wish I could afford one (joined gym in April. I’ve only been twice.) I wish you every bit of luck on this journey, and I’m sure you’ll look amazing on your big day! (Plus, totally feel you, falling off the wagon means falling hard!)

Good luck champ! You can do it, i started my healthy kick over a year ago. The best piece of advice is to start of small and know that struggling in the beginning is totally normal. You don’t have to be great to start, you have to start to be great!.
